Mozilla & Java & Flash - nothing works

Hello all, I have only 2 problems ; both with mozilla 1.4 (or maybe plugins?)
First, I have two things: Java RE (1.4.1?) and no idea how to get it to work with my mozilla browser. After running the script a folder is created with very many files inside and I 'm not too sure what should I do with it. I've read somewhere that I have to make a symbolic link to library called libjava-something-.so in the mozilla plugins directory. In the "Java" folder, I've found 3 files named like this, but none of them didn't get detected. Maybe I'm missing something?

Second, I've downloaded flash player 7 plugin from macromedia site. But because I didn't find anything for my browser version, I've downloaded the Flash player for mozilla 1.2. On first sight it works OK, but there is one bad thing: I have black borders on top and left edges of any swf movie I open with the browser. Maybe someone knows how to fix it or could give me a link to plugin that works correctly?

Sorry 4 everyone if these problems have already been resolved, but I can't use "SEARCH" right now! (no response from server; strangely everything else works). In that case please give me a links to the corresponding threads.

Which distro are you using?

Java Runtime Environment
1. Install Java Runtime Environment.
2. Make a symbolic link to libjavaplugin_oji.so in your Mozilla Plugins directory. Unless you are using an old version of Mozilla, or one you compiled yourself with gcc 2.9x, use the copy located in the plugin/i386/ns7 directory of JRE 5.0, or plugin/i386/ns610-gcc32 if you are using JRE 1.4.2.

Macromedia Flash Player
1. Download Flash Player 7.0.
2. Decompress it, then copy libflashplayer.so to your Mozilla plugins directory and flashplayer.xpt to your Mozilla components directory.

If you are using Debian, the install through apt/Synaptic installs the plugins for you.
