move phpmyadmin directory


i currently have phpmyadmin in
Code:
/var/www/html/phpmyadmin
i would like to move it somewhere more discreet
any suggestions where?

also would i have to edit the conf file to point to this new location?

Hello,

Yes, you would have to change the config settings to point to that location. However, if you move the directory and update the config file, technically someone could look on the file and see the location. On the other hand, if someone logged in on your computer/server, they could do a simple find and locate it. That being said though, you could move it anywhere you would like to.

Not directly, unless you make it world wide readable, which it shouldn't be in the first place.

Please explain the problem you're trying to solve. Are you concerned about shell users viewing the contents of your phpmyadmin directory?

Moving the application to a new location may not be necessary and/or may not be the best approach.
