Angry Mouse Icon

Hi,

I am very new to Linux. Can somebody tell me how to change my mouse pointer? After installing Mandrake 2006, I have a nasty yellow cursor that can hardly be seen.

Cheers

Ok, Ive found how to change the Pointer.

However, it doesnt change. Its still sort of translucent green and yellow. Im guessing it something to do with the graphics. The desktop does look a little sketchy. Any ideas on this?

Also, Can anyone tell me how I can find out which model graphics card I am running?

I'm having the same problem, and it is quite annoying. Here are some additional things I've learned.

I did not have the problem on older versions of mandriva compiled kernels

It is a problem with X as it happens with the login manager

when installing I did not see a green cursor in the display setup test/preview, but now if I change video drivers, all tests/previews show this green cursor. This is presumably because the installation used a different kernel.

I would prefer not to compile my own kernel, but maybe someone can suggest a pre-compiled rpm kernel available in the normal mandriva sources that would solve this problem. Or perhaps someone knows of a different solution.

Xorg

I heard somewhere else it had something to do with the latest xorg release that is included with mandriva 2006.

I guess it doesn't play nice with my radeon 7000 card
