Mouse freezes in ubuntu 9.10

I have installed ubuntu 9.10, but my mouse is behaving erroneously.
It,s automatically actives many thing where its pointer, like asking for deleting the panel, opens many windows and so on....
sometimes its freezes and didn't shows any movement, in that case i have to plug out my mouse cable from the cpu and again i have plugin to fix it.

What may be problem and how could i fix it.
and i have window install in that the same mouse is working well.

clean the mouse and still if it is the same ... get a new mouse

(that is how many ps/2 wheel mouses die)

but its running well in window.
and its a month old only.

Any other way to fix it, by changing another mouse also problem still persistin.

System specs?

Do you have very little RAM?

or it may be due to static electricity/ interference

write a custom /etc/X11/xorg.conf if required
