Mounting problems

Hi iam using Mandrake 8. It is in the second partition of a hard disk. The first partition is an NTFS and has WinXP. The problem is that from linux i can not access the windows partition. I know mandrake 9 has the windows partition in /mnt/win_c, but in version 8 i can not see it.

I don't think MDK 8 being as old as it is has XP NTFS support in the default kernel.

8.1 supports it. You are going to have to mount it yourself though. Create a directory--anywhere you would like to mount the filesystem. Find which device the windows partition is located on--usually /dev/hda1 if it was the first primary partition. Then issue the mount command
mount -t ntfs /your dir

THE -t flag followed by ntfs signifies the filesystem type. I have tried this and it has worked, and i have 8.1 mandy.
