mount window dir error

I am trying to mount a window dir from linux using

$ mount //192.168.40.1/temp /mnt/drive -o username=joe

and got this following error right away (without enter the password)

mount: block device //192.168.40.1/temp is write-protected, mounting read-only
mount: cannot mount block device //192.168.40.1/temp read-only

This commands used to work, but I was playing around with uninstalling package, not sure if that cause the problem.

I reinstall samba and check that the service is on. i run out of option now. Can someone help?

My brief and recent experience with Samba made me think that you might want to add the -t smbfs or -t cifs parameter to the mount command.
Code:
mount -t smbfs //192.168.40.1/temp /mnt/drive -o username=joe
