mount: /repo : no medium found

Hello,

I am in a course and following instructions for setting up Repo.

I created my mount point '/repo'
Edit the /etc/fstab "/dev/sr0 /repo iso9660 default 0 0"
and tried to mount "/mount -a" and I get the message, "mount: /repo : no medium found on /dev/sr0.
mount: (hint) your fstab has been modified, but systemd still uses the old version; use 'systemctl daemon-reload' to reload."

I 'systemctl daemon-reload' then run df -h & lsblk to see if /sr0 is mounted.. and it is not.

Does anyone know what my problem could be?

Welcome to LinuxQuestions.

/dev/sr0 implies a CD/DVD drive. Did you insert a disk?

No, My laptop doesn't have a optical disc drive. I'll copy and paste my exercise below.

"We will mount the local rhel 8 ISO so that we can install packages from the RHEL 8
installation disk ISO image"
● Make sure the rhel 8 iso is selected on your VM setting:
setting>Storage>controller:IDE
● Create the mount point:
# mkdir /repo
● Edit the /etc/fstab:
/dev/sr0 /repo iso9660 defaults 0 0
● Mount the ISO:
# mount -a"

What virtual software are you running? Vmware?

Selecting the ISO file is simulating inserting a disk. No medium found is an indication that you did not perform the step correctly.

Ok, at the top of the VM window select:
Devices -> Optical Drives -> Choose a Disk File -> select the desired ISO file -> Select open.

That will "insert" the ISO file in the virtual disk drive.

Oh, the exercise was just to show how to put into practice how to have a local repository. I feel dumb haha

Thank you Michael!
