mount an ntfs disk ?

Hi, i have a windows disk with some PDF's i would like to rescue.
(the disk is Not, bootable) but is an NTFS disk.

if plugged it into my promary Slave.

how do i mount it ???

ive tried mount /dev/hdb /mnt/hdb/

but with no luck

(i m assuming hda = promary master
hdb = primary slave
hdc secondary master
hdd secondary slave

is this assumption correct ? )
