Modem driver and connection OK, but... no navigation!

Hello

I have installed an USB 56k modem via a (14k free version) Linuxant HSF driver on my laptop, and everything is OK.

I have set up and launched KPPP under SuSE10.1 (kernel 2.6.16.13-4), and it has connected to my ISP.

However, my internet browsers cannot connect to websites - they behave as if there was still no connection!

I have tried to ping some IP address on the net, and everything is fine (KPPP even visualizes the various input/output packages flowing).

Any suggestion? Thanks

When you ping an "IP address," are you pinging by number or by name? If pinging by number works but by name does not, then you have a DNS problem.

I've tried what you suggested

The thing is, I cannot navigate or even ping those IP addresses. The only IP I can ping with success is the one of my ISP.

So, it seems like I cannot go "beyond" my ISP.

Just to make sure we are not miscommunicating, if you try:

Code:
ping 64.179.4.146
it does not work? (FYI, that IP address is www.linuxquestions.org)

If so, I wonder if you are missing the default route in your routing table. Could you post the output of :

route -n

(Feel free to obfuscate IP addresses that you don't wish to post.)
