Missing core dump from child process

All-

I have a child process that is not producing a core dump when it terminates. Here is what I have configured:
In etc/profile I have set ulimit -c unlimited
In etc/sysctl.conf I have set:
kernel.core_pattern=core.%e.%p
kernel.core_uses_pid=1
fs.suid_dumpable=1
The folder where the executable runs is writable, and there is enough space on my partition.

I kill the process logged in as root using 'kill -6 <child_pid>

Thanks,
Scott

No idea what to suggest; you don't tell us what this child process is, what's starting it, on what kind of system, using what version/distro of Linux. Far too many things to guess at. Provide details and we may be able to help.

More details. The child process is forked from a parent application. It is running on an imx6 based embedded system running Linux 4.1.15.

This still tells us next to nothing; can't do much with "parent application" and "imx6 based embedded system". The only thing of real use is the kernel version. We don't know how you configured the system or kernel.

Have you checked the core file limit? Run "ulimit -c unlimited" to see if that helps. Can try to look at running "sysctl kernel.core_pattern". And the kill command should be "kill -SIGSEGV <PID>"
