you can use "pine" or "mutt"

pine can be run at console mode..or at gui you can open an terminal also..

pine is mainly for redhat and mutt is for debian use...

let me know if you have further query..

install the pine package from the redhat CD..cause it will be easier for you..search at the RPMS directory of your redhat CD....you will find pine package..then just install it using "rpm -ivh pine........" command...

after installation run pine from console mode...

hey kiran,
U can send message to a particular user from console by using write(but mesg should be n) or talk command.U can even send him through mail also.

Actually I was just trying to tell him that how easily he can use PINE..there was other solution...but I thought pine would be easier for him as he was a newbie...
