Mandriva 2006 installation

Hello, I have installed Mandriva 2006 on my compaq but I made the mistake of not enabling the graphical Gnome desktop, so every time I boot it boots into the localhost login....I log in and put my password....but nothing else happens, I was wondering if there is any command that I can type from there without re installing the whole thing again...just because of graphical desktop....
Thanks in advance.

Why are you installing Mandriva 2006 ?
It is 2008 now. Linux updates much faster than windows
Give yourself a break and start with something that is current.
And welcome to LQ!
