I'd move the disk to another machine, install (using most generic settings I can find) and then insert back. Should boot at least to console mode.

I downloaded ISO images for Mandrake 9.2 and the md5 was perfect. However, after burning the CD's, I found that I got part way through the install and then it just hung. My clever son made a boot floppy and did a network install for me which did work. My point is that burning the CD's is where my problem occured even though I did everything just as told off web sites similar to this one. Maybe you will find that when you get the CD's you have bought that it will work.
