mailx query


How to check that the SMTP server name being used by mailx utiltity in redat linux 5

Default service is sendmail on RHEL5; try

ps -ef|grep mail
The most likely otherwise is postfix.

Which distro? Once try:

~$ cat ~/mbox | grep -i smtp
Also check it's manual and check if there ~/.mailrc file exist.

~$ ls -la ~/.mailrc
