mails are not being sent in html format

the send mail program on my linux box is not sending mails in html. It is sending mails in plain text only.

What needs to be done

which mail client are you using?
kontact? evolution? mutt? thunderbird?

Mails area recd on Outlook and have been configured to recv html mails.

On the linux box, there was suggestion that I use /bin/mail instead of /bin/mailx. But this did not work

lets see if i understand what you are trying to do,

you have outlook on windows set to recive and send HTML messages,
on linux you are using the /bin/mail, client to send and recive teh same messages but it only sends as plain text...

in that case i would recomend using a graphical mail client like thunderbird or Kontact (if you use KDE) or evolution( if you use gnome)

it shoudl be there on you system somwhere
