Yellow Dog Linux is a Red Hat distro specifically tailored to Apple PPC hardware. I have it dual booted with a G4 mini-tower, and can recommend it for a smooth install. But be prepared: read up on yaboot and how to dual boot using Open Firmware. Wipe your drive and leave x MBs as free space for Linux. Install OSX. Boot from the YDL CD, and rock on.
