Mandrake 10 root user

Setup Mandrake 10 using DRAKX and KDE desktop. Did not specify root user or passwords during setup. Apparently that sets up a GUI as root user which is not good. Someone kindly suggested I create root user and password. During reboot I have these selections 263-7, failsafe, floppy, linux, linux-nonfb. OR, I have been able to login by typing "root" with no password in the KDE login screen. Then I have access to the command line in the KDE desktop. Which would be the best way to reenter this info? Thanks for any help

The first thing you should probably do is give root a password. You can do this by starting up konsole and entering the 'passwd' command.
You will be asked for the new password twice.

Next create a normal user for yourself in the 'userdrake' program. Depending on the 'msec' security level you chose, you might want to make yourself a member of the 'wheel' group which will allow you access to more files.
