Hello, I just noticed this problem on 11/26/08 . I tried to log in to my brokerage account with Konqueror but am unable. Firefox however will still log in (thank goodness). I haven't changed any settings, that I'm aware of anyway. About the only thing I noticed was <5ae> at the top of the log in page. I don't think it was there before and it is not there in fire fox. I turned off the ad blocker but that didn't fix it.I checked the crypto settings but really didn't know what to change. The name of the brokerage is listed under Peer SSL Certificates, and Verisign is listed under SSL Signers. As far as the settings go I've tried changing some, unless they gave a warning that said changes are erreversable. Nothing seems to fix it and I really don't know what else to try. Thank You!
The installation seems to have gone corrupt. Uninstall and reinstall it from YAST. Did you check for javascript settings? Did you try using Konaueror from some other account to check for <5ae>?
Okay , I dumped kde 3.5 completely and installed kde 4 . When I try to log in it does the same thing only this time there is a little laddie bug at the bottom. I clicked on it and it says that there are java script errors on the page. I don't know why this is the only browser to pick this up.This is the only site Iv'e encountered that does this. Maybe I need to switch to Scott Trade , they support Linux. I guess I will call the brokerage monday and see if there have been other complaints, and if not just use a different browser.

this is a java scirpt problem. make sure it is enabled. Most likley it is the login page script and you konqureror webrowser need to have it settings changed. open your browser click tools click html click java script and java I do not use the konqueror webrowser for secure surfing I use seamonkey firefox and opera. Is my favorite, but some java script logins I have trouble with. make sure you have the new Java from sunmicrosystems get the new JRE 6 http://www.java.com/en/download/
or use the distro update. I have had nothing but problems with the KDE4
it is far from stable.

So having identified that it's a problem with the JavaScript on the site, do you then start talking about the JRE because you are under the, not common, mistaken impression that it has something to do with the browser's ability to run JavaScript, or for some other reason?
Thanks everybody for your help. I have come to the conclusion that kde just isn't for me. Things just don't seem to work right. I went back to xfce using Firefox and Epiphany web browsers and everything is working ok now. I don't really understand why kde is different under Ubuntu than it is under Debian , but it is. I used Debian with kde 3.5 with no problems. The only reason I don't switch back to Debian is the packages available through Synaptic. When I learn more about package management from the command line I will probably swith back to Deb. Thanks again all!
