Login page says account reached max attempts but lchage says not locked
We are running RHEL 5.5 and have come across a user who cannot login due to the fact that they receive the following message while attempting to log in:
Your account is locked. Maximum amount of failed attempts was reached.
We logged in as root and performed an lchage on this user and it says that the account is not locked.
What is the remedy so that this user can use the account again?
