localhost login????

i can get past the pcmcia problem by unplugging my network cable, but afterwards a couple things happen.

first, it goes through a bunch of seamingly random screens, then comes to an error:

"Fatal System Error:
no screren found"

afterwards, after going through some more seamingly random screens, it comes to a screen asking for a localhost login.

what is this localhost login? i don't recall setting anything like that while installing???

i set the root password, but that's it.

can someone please help?

localhost is your computer as far as I know ... you should be able to enter a username and a password I think...

type in root as your username and then the root password. One of the first things on your to do list ought to be adding a normal user. The problem you're seeing with the display is a badly configured video card. Use
xf86config
to set up your video card. The above is the command to start it.
