Load average 1.0, 1.0, 1.0 ?

hey all, my first post so be gentle please

When i type uptime into my console it spits back my boxs uptime, then after the load averages, but they're always 1.0, 1.0, 1.0 - i'm wondering if this is a bug, or how to fix it. I'm running Slackware 9.1

PC Specs: P4 2.6, 512mb ddr400 ram, 80gb ide hdd

this means your box is using 100% cpu time constantly.

type "top", or "ps auxf" to see what process takes all this CPU power. Perhaps some program is running an infinite-loop, but I'm amazed this happens after a fresh install.

* you could set your distribution in your profile btw.

thanx for the reply yapp, i gave her a reboot n all seems fine now... i will keep those commands in mind for if it should do it again tho, cheers

while i got yer attention yapp, i've installed 2 sata drives in my box, installed the proper drivers, and when i "cfdisk" can only see one drive. Also i want to mount the drive on boot up, how is this possible... (i might be asking too much if so just tell me)

try cfdisk /dev/hdb

you're still looking at hda, your primary disk.

create the partitions, and file systems (for example with "mke2fs -j" for ext3), and add the correct mount line to /etc/fstab. Then add the keyword "auto" to the options field.
