little problem


yesterday I had a little problem ... no matter what user name and password I used my mandrake wouldn't let me log in so I reinstalled it ( again)....

now while it will connect to the net it wont let me surf to any websites ...... whats to problem and will it be easier to reinstall it again to fix the problem .........

First of all, never reinstall, unless your system is totally trashed. Its always a last means to fix something in Linux.

How are you connecting, broadband or dialup? If by broadband, probably just need to update your /etc/resolv.conf file with your ISP's DNS entries.

Let us know! And don't reinstall, ever, until its totally necessary. This isn't Windows your using anymore.

its a dailup conection that I have got ... and what is wrong with the reinstall

just remembered something
when I first installed it I lost something like 2 gig oh hard drive space ... dont know where it went ... anyidear as to how to get it back
