Linux umask value change not taking effect

Linux umask for an application's generated logs was changed to 0022 but those changes are not taking effect even after restarting the application. Need help.

Depends on where you set it, and how the application is started.

It also depends on whether the application sets its own access mode when it opens/creates the log files. Also, if it just appends to a log file, then whatever access modes set on the existing file will be used.

Normally, the umask would be set in a users bashrc/profile file. In this case, it only takes effect when the user logs in.
