Question linux-top in lilo?

Hello together
I just installed Red Hat 7.2, everything runs fine! my question in now: I have three options in lilo to start:
  • linux
  • linux-top
  • windows
what this entry "linux-top" means? In standard linux I can see in lilo.conf a entry called 2.4.18smp or something like this, for shure with *smp. In linux-top without *smp. Can I remove this entry or is it needed for some administrative work?

PS: I have a dual machine, smp support would be fine

if you look in lilo.conf where it says label=linux-top
the image line above it shows the kernel it boots

if you don't want to use this kernel then you can remove the lines of code for that image, and run lilo

or if you want to use this one and not linux then remove linux and name linux-top whatever you want

the smp kernel is for multi processors

IWhen you have an smp machine, run this "linux-top" and look if it works correctly. If it does, make it default.

thanks for the answers, I had a look into lilo.conf, the entry linux-top was without smp support. I`d remove the entry, ran /sbin/lilo, the entry dissappeared
next job is to get ntfs support, need some files from other partition...
