Linux swap / solaris not appearing as swap in Ubuntu?

I don't remember actively configuring a swap partition during the Ubuntu Hoary installation.

I tried to do it manually by using "sudo cfdisk" and labeling the 280MB of free space I have as Linux swap / Solaris.

However, gkrellm says I have 0 of 0mb of swap space.

How do I label this swap space properly?

You need to format (mkswap) and activate (swapon) you swap space.
See this similar current thread, and the included link.
