linux services

i'm new to linux and i'm wanting to know where i can find documentation like:
blackviper (com)
markusjansson (net)

for linux. i'm wanting to know the "safe" services to disable seeing as though i'm mainly using this for learning purposes and don't see running so many services. i ticked the EVERYTHING when installed fedora core 3. thank you in advance.

**note
wouldn't let me post links so i did what i could.

i don't know of a site (although i'm sure there is one), but if you let us see what you have running we can tell you what you should probably disable... just post the output of this command:

Code:
ps aux
