linux rescue

I just installed Mandrake 9.2 RC2 on my Dell Dimension 8250. When I rebooted LILO does not work. I get something like this:

L 07 07 07 07 07 07....

Then I tried reinstalling.
When I tried to make a bootdisk the setup hungup and did not complete.
Then I tried using linux rescue from the install CD. It goes fine until the menu comes up and computer freezes. It is like it is not recongnizing my mouse or keyboard.

Please, any suggestions?

I tried installing Mandrake 9.0 and it worked fine until I tried to make a bootdisk. It said that mkboodisk failed. Then I switched floppiy disks and it worked must have had a bad floppy. Now I will try to upgrade to 9.2 RC2
