I have been using Linux Mint 18.2 for over 6 months, but recently I downloaded and installed Linux Mint 19.1, and tried to get my cell phone to upload pictures on that phone, however it does not work because I found out 19.1 does not have any USB drivers installed, so first of all this needs to be corrected before anything that is plugged into a USB port will work.
Then these programs must be compatible in Linux because many of them are MS Propitiatory and will not work unless your working in MS Windows OS which defeats the purpose of using Linux Mint in the first place.
Please get your engineers to build the files that are missing in 19.1 so we can use programs like Microscope, and smartphone technology.
I have many files in my smartphone that I can not retrieve because these programs have to be plugged into a USB port and must be compatible with LM to get them to work, and right now they don't work.
In closing I would like to suggest that your engineers first fix the USB problem in 19.1 because right now it does not have anything in that USB file, then also include a Microscope program that will work in Linux Mint 19.1.
I downloaded Linux Mint 19.1 and noticed there are no games installed in that OS, this is one program you could improve on, also USB does not have any drivers in that file, so when you plug into a USB port nothing will work.
As far as I know ,Mint has never given me any problems with USB connections.
First if you give your specs of your system ,someone might be able to help. Also what desktop are you usingf ? Cinnamon ,XFCE ot Mate or KDE?
That would also help with troubleshooting.
if you really want to help improve Linux Mint, this is not the place to do it.
please go here.
I would also suggest to assume a less demanding tone and provide more palpable information if you want a positive outcome.
ondoho,
Sorry if my response you asked for was what you called to demanding. However I was asked for my opinion and that is what you got, I realize you really don't want to be better than Microsoft now because you don't want to know about the problems and try to correct them,, you just criticize them instead. Don't forget you asked for my opinion, like it or not.

the problem here is your usage of the word "you" - you seem to assume that all of GNU/Linux - all the dozens of kernel variants, hundreds of distros, thousands of developers - are somehow one entity, one "you".
this is not the case.
This forum - linuxquestions.org - is not - how to put it - affiliated with Linux Mint in any way.
GNU/Linux in general also requires a more active approach to problem-solving by its users (at least that's my opinion - if Linux Mint do it differently, again, you need to take it there), but it seems you are using this as a sort of help desk or reclamation department?
In any case, regarding asking questions on this forum please read this.
Regarding the Linux/Windows comparison please read this.
