linux help

I’m new to Linux and I have been messing around with different Linux programs. So I tried to do a system restore on a used laptop that was running XP but the battery was all drained and it turned of at 75 percent so when I finally got the charger and started up the computer it goes to the loading windows screen and it turns black and the cursor only shows up. So I tried running a Backed Up copy of xp and It doesn’t run. So I ran SLAX on it and it worked so I was wondering if there’s any way of running that disk from slax or any other Linux utility thanks for the help.

No guarantees but there is a useful thing called the ultimate boot disk that has many different utilities and can be downloaded from www.ultimatebootcd.com

You will need to make this a lot clearer..

"messing around with different Linux programs"---on the old laptop?

"Backed Up copy of xp and It doesn’t run"---Where was the backup? How did you try to run it?

"So I ran SLAX on it"---How? You installed SLAX--or ran from live CD?

"wondering if there’s any way of running that disk from slax"---what disk? The one in the laptop?

What is the end point you are trying to get to? eg do you want the laptop running in XP, Linux, etc.? Do you need to recover some data?
