hi,
did you enable sharing of any folders on it. i think you need to enable some shared folder on those xp machines. assuming you are checking windows machines in Linneighbourhood and not asking actual smaba configuration to access windows machines

hi,
ok then do following
1) make one domain and place your winxp machines under that domain
2) start Linneighbourhood and right click on you host name
3) select as rescan groups as user
4) create one windows username and give all details in that dialog window
5) check whether you got entry on that domain

1) make one domain and place your winxp machines under that domain
this would be mshome by default i suspect

i follow your steps but nothing shows up.
I already install samba, and i assume i do it correctly since i can see my roomate's xp from linneigborhood

so whats exactly the problem? you are able to see your roommate's xp and not able to see other windows XP machine from you Linux machine? is this machine comes directly when you starts Linneighbourhood or you scan it and then got it?
you can check settings on windows XP(roommates) if anything varies in terms of domain settings or best to check Linneighbouthood's add buttons / prefs button and follow that dialog
