Ldap

ok, i need to set up an Ldap service on a mail server,
ive looked at a few websites that i was refered to but man im stumped. can anyone help me?
anyone done it before, i think its pretty stright forward if only i knew what the hang i was doing.

its all installed and ive modified the slapd.conf file to the best of my ability (i think i got it right)
infact i think i just got it running? not sure.
but im just finding the help pages on the net and the man to be designed for people who know wot they are talking about wif linux.
i will struggle on but need help on getting from here to finished and running with data in it.
inputting data, i don't know?
grrr.
its fruterating.
