kernel question


I was just wondering what programing language the kernal (from kernel.org) is writen in.

As far as I know, most of the code it's C. But it's not the only language used in the linux kernel.

why would they use multiple languages?

I think (Though its not 100%) They might use assembler for low-level high speed operations, Although this is specific to each CPU type.

Edit: I just checked it does contain assembler.
