When the Grub boot screen opens, does it present a list of other (older) kernels you can select? If so, try booting to the next kernel in the list.

If you are successful, you can then inspect the logs to see what might be causing the error.

Welcome to LQ; I'd suggest you Edit **original Post #1**, click GoAdvanced
and change Title to something Good (copy #2's title, to #1)

https://www.linuxquestions.org/quest...1/#post5768161

IF you can't boot 'single' (init=/bin/sh) THEN (I think) the ONLY way back
IS to boot some recovery iso (or take disk to working Linux system)

Thank you !!! I've changed the thread title to match the second reply post title by ravipradeep.

Hi ravipradeep, suggest you check out the Kernel Panic Sticky found in the link here or also at the top of the LQ Newbie forum. It covers this exact type of problem.

Thanks a lot for your response frankbell.

I didnt get any previous options. I got that AMD screen by entering the ESC during the boot. It stays for few minutes and again it is moving to secod screen shot page. I am not able to enter anything on this window.

Hi again... Here's some pictures of what I meant (ignore later part about password)
https://www.liberiangeek.net/2014/09...tos-7-servers/
What's needed is to get a # prompt. Can you get to shell # ?

Quote:
At the boot menu, press e to edit the existing kernel params
ArrowScroll down and Change the ro line to rw and add init=/sysroot/bin/sh
F10 or Ctrl+X to boot
See IF you can get to 'single user mode' # (which is just before chroot)
Here's another: http://igeeksys.blogspot.com/2016/10...e-in-boot.html
The idea/goal is to get to the # shell prompt.
THEN, we can give you commands like lsblk, to investigate.
IF you can't get the # prompt, THEN other boot media needed
(I think, unless there's other grub> tricks Idk)
