kernel panic error?


I am getting the following error while booting:
Code:
...........
VFS: cant find ext3 filesystem on dev dm-0
mount : error 22 mounting none
switchroot: mount failed :22
umount /initrd/dev failed :2
kernel panic not syncing :attempt to kill init
Pls Help

The problem is that the system can't find your root partition. How that happened, it's hard to say without more information. Did this error come up straight after install, or was it working and then stopped working? If the latter, what were you doing before it happened? Which version of Linux are you using, and what hardware are you running it on?

Let me tel you the reason.One of my Colleagues tried resizing the VolumeGroup and by mistake he tried re-sizing the first / partition rather than /opt under VolumeGroup.Now the size of / has been full and the issue threw the error.

Please help me if I can repair my system through rescue disk?
