kernel compile and boot loader


Please let me know what to do to compile my own kernel and how to edit my lilo. Please give me the commands as i'm still fairly new to this (i've compiled many times during install, but i don't know how to do it without reinstalling cause i don't know anything about configureing lilo)

The key to editing LILO after the compile is to copy an appropriate existing stanza then modify the

image=........directive

and the

label=..........directive

to take into account the PATH to the new kernel and a label name of your choice

then run

/sbin/lilo

to make the changes take effect.
