Keeping ALSA Config in Debian Sarge

Hey everyone,

I'm kinda new to linux, I've been using Windows for years now and i"ve decided to switch over.

Okay my issue is, I have everything working, but if I reboot my machine, I lose my alsa config, I have to switch to su and run alsaconf every time. Is there a way to retain those settings so I don't have to re-enter them every single time I reboot my machine??

I'm running Debian Sarge w/kernel 2.6.8-2-386

I have a Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 sound card.

If you guys need any more info please don't hesitate to ask.

Try running as root 'alsactl store' right after you make the sound adjustments.

Yeah I tried that one already,

I think the issue is somewhat related to the fact that I login to X using the graphical login, and I don't login as root.

However I need to run both alsaconf and alsactl store as root, but when I sign in (after a fresh boot) as myself, the settings are gone...

Any suggestions?

ALso, I should mention, that my motherboard has an on-board sound card as well, and it keeps seeming to default back to it each time after I run alsaconf and select the Live.
