Issue during 2.6.37-rc2 Kernel Compilation??
Two weeks before I tried compiling kernel 2.6.37-rc1 and it went fine on Fedora 13 box. But yesterday when the new 2.6.37-rc2 got available, I am getting warnings as shown below:

[root@localhost linux-2.6.37-rc2]#
Though I ignored and carried out the compilation, it did went fine.
But when I rebooted with new kernel it shows the Fedora Booting Bar and then screen went blinking and nothing getting displayed.
Note: I am running this setup on Vmware ESX 3.5 box through Fedora 13 VM.
I tried on Fedora 14 too but the same issue.
Pls Suggest.

You can get a prebuilt rpm for Fedora by including this repository:
Code:
[fedora-kernel]
name=Kernel
baseurl=http://repos.fedorapeople.org/repos/kyle/kernel/fedora-15/$basearch/
enabled=1
skip_if_unavailable=1
gpgcheck=0
[fedora-kernel-source]
name=Kernel - Source
baseurl=http://repos.fedorapeople.org/repos/kyle/kernel/fedora-15/SRPMS
enabled=0
skip_if_unavailable=1
gpgcheck=0
Then just:
The current 2.6.37-0.1.rc2.git0.fc15 kernel rpm in the repository works on my F14 system. The repository is maintained by Kyle McMartin, one of the kernel developers.

macemoneta,
The Steps you suggested is simply updating the kernel version. The Issue is not that.
I can easily download the kernel and compile it. I compiled the 2.6.37-rc1 the same way and it went fine.
But when I run make menuconfig for the latest kernel it threw that error.

The Fedora kernel is patched, and works. Feel free to download the source package and rebuild it if you'd like.

You're using a 2.6.18-186.el5 config instead of a 2.6.37-rc2 config. Yes, errors are expected.

Almost every kernel release has different config options. You either run a 'make oldconfig' on a config from a recent prior release, and then set the changed options as appropriate, or you use a config for that specific release (for example with the rpm I posted above). There are more permutations on a kernel config then there are stars in the universe, and the vast majority won't work. You have to start from a functional base and move forward.
