ISO discs 3 & 4 after installation

I installed Fedora Core 3. ISO 3 gave me an error, so I downloaded 3 & 4 again - they check out as fine. Now I want to install the *extras* and docs from discs three and four. How do I go about that now that FC3 is already installed? The error I got was when I inserted disc 3, a window came up that said no CD was in the CD-rom. Thinking the CD was bad I downloaded them again.

Thanks,

Rich

it's usual that you have to mount a device like a cdrom when you want to use discs containing data.

You might have to work out what your install is calling the cdrom device - it could be something like /dev/cdrom so in that case, you'd put the disc in and type "mount /dev/cdrom" (obviously, no quotation marks), which should enable you to look at the disc. It may also be that you can't mount the device from a user account login and only do that from the root account login (a permissions thing).

I don't know if fedora has any way of using an "auto mount or supermount" facility so that it enables you to see the disc without having to manually mount it - but it's also possible that you might be able to do that if you log in graphically as root and see if you can find the cdrom device - again, it might be in /mnt or /dev I can't say. I've never used fedora or deadrat for that matter.

cheers

john
