If you can't fix your problem, and you want your support, then you might want to switch to Fedora or Whitebox, Red Hat styled linux's that have support still... I use fedora core 3 64 bit, and I love it.

Ick.

None of my experience with IT people (or ITT people) has been great.

Anyway, most of the pre-installed software will be very usuable, even if you don't update.


If you can, try installing from source or from .tar.gz instead of RPM. It makes upgrades tricker but can bypass problems with dependencies. (worked for some stuff in my case anyway)

...it's a hell of a lot cheaper, and you make more friends

(someone who has been using unix flavours on & off - mainly off - for 20 years)
