Is ftp with the FC2 distro secure?

Is ftp with the FC2 distro secure, or do I need to get something new?

I've also tried gftp's gui which I downloaded, but I've had problems connecting with that.

I know the ssh is secure.

Also, any recommendations on ftp software?

FTP is not secure because it transmits passwords in clear text no matter which distro.

I do not have any recommendations. I usually just use the command line app scp.

Thanks for the scp tip.

With that lead I also found out about sftp. Do you have any pros and cons for either scp or sftp?

sftp uses secure shell or ssh to handle file transferring requests. scp is the same as sftp.

Yeah sftp is the way to go especially since there is a Windows client out there as well:

WinSCP
