introduction to linux


hello a newbie in need of direction here

i am using redhat linux as i do fMRI and all the software is linux based, but what i am after is an online guide to using linux for beginners that shows you how to set up a shell, what the hell a shell is etc. so i can stop being confused

does anyone know of this?

www.linux.org has a great article for anyone just getting started. Just click on courses.

Linux is user friendly , its just careful in choosing its friend
