[SOLVED] internet radio

In windows vista I can listen to http://www.planetradiocity.com/internetradio/index.php
In ubuntu 8.04 this live radio does not play. It seems it wants window media player which is not in linux (thank God). But I have mplayer,mozilla-mplayer.
Basically I wanted to download the audio being played.
In some cases (like http://icecast.commedia.org.uk:8000/theeyefm.mp3.Here mplayer plug-in played well in firefox browser.) I used 'wget' & got live mpeg stream.

In windows , there is windows media player firefox plugin for firefox.
(1)Does that mean wmp format stream cannot be played in linux ?
(2)I tried to 'wget' mms://wms.absoluteradio.co.uk/absoluteradio.co.uk/a8_hi?u= but got unsupported scheme.
What do you suggest ?

i listen to sky.fm and 977music.com they're pretty good too and don't require any media player

In sky.fm songs are played via embedded flash which is disabled from our router.
At 977music.com the other option is windows media player which does not work in linux.

You need this plugin, or something that can handle windows media player streams in firefox. On my gentoo system the mplayer-plugin seemed to handle it ok for me, but there was a flag to enable windows media streams. You may need to research for your distro how to manage this.

you can listen with winamp too which does work on linux...

In Ubuntu you can install the internet radio program streamtuner from the repositories. Streamtuner will let you listen to many internet radio stations. You may need either xmms2 or audacious media players to use with streamtuner.

You just need to wait, it starts automatically
However, at my system it takes about 30 sec before the sound start

at 977music.com the wmp option works well now. Reecently I installed RealPlayer11GOLD
to tommcd

Still when I visit http://www.planetradiocity.com/internetradio/index.php I get a still image at the position where I get windows media player in vista.
Also I can play local .wmv file in my browser in ubuntu.
If any ubuntu user can hear radio at http://www.planetradiocity.com/internetradio/index.php . Please suggest ?
also i have noticed that if I click on image (where wmp appears in vista) for first time in tab I get message with OK button

Atleast I found out that I can dump stream (which I could not wget) using mplayer .

But I cannot play it simultaneously in same command.Currently I open another console & run

Finally
I saw this page http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/...n+with+Firefox which told to install gnome-mplayer,gecko-mediaplayer which I did though test page (http://plugindoc.mozdev.org/testpages/wmp11.html) of plugin worked even before doing this.
Again I went to http://www.planetradiocity.com/internetradio/index.php & as usual got it non-functioning .
This time I right clicked & chose copy Then ran that link i had copied via mplayer
