Cool Installing linux, what about partition with Ubuntu Server 8.10

Ok, first to explain my situation. I have 3 hard drives, one is removable and the other two are fixed in the computer. On of them is my main hard disk(with my OS installed and all) while the other is just storage. I had an idea, I want to install Ubuntu server 8.10 on my removable hard drive. So what about that: I go to my BIOS and set it to boot from the removable HD and I insert the CD then boot. I heard a lot of stuff about installing linux and wiping all there is in the disk. Whats going to happen? Will it wipe ALL the 3 HD's or just the one I set it to boot. What I'd like to happen would be to just to delete all's in the removable disk and keeping all the data on the other two.
Any of this possible?

The installer has a partition editor, so you can choose what to "wipe" and what to keep.
Dont worry about the hard drives, run the installer and come back if you have any questions/problems.

Ok well, I got it working. I think I installed this GRUB boot loader or something like that so I can boot my two OS at the same time. Thanks !
