I am trying to do everything by command line. i am using the 3 original installation cd from the box. i was able to navigate and try to insatll the lynx rpm, but i got a error message saying that i have to install cgi perl first before installing lynx. Please someone help.

Well, I guess you should install first perl-CGI.

Search within your CD's for some package named perl-CGI-*.rpm and install it.
