Installing an .rpm over and ssh connection.

Hi, I'm trying to install an antivirus package onto my linux laptop at home while ssh'd into it. I'm wondering how I can go about doing this. I'm running a Knoppix 4.0 install and want to install Avast anti-virus. When I install in the GUI at home I just double click the .rpm and it installs it to the system. Would this be the correct syntax to install it while connected via my ssh connection?

rpm -ivh avast.rpm

I haven't ever installed progs via the command line and would like to know if this is right.
?? Thanks.

Cool. Thanks buddies. I'll give this a whirl and see if it installs.

Edit: Guess I can't use this to install .rpm's on my Knoppix load. It give me this error:

root@nuxbox:/home/james# rpm -ivh avast4workstation-1.0.5-1.i586.rpm
rpm: To install rpm packages on Debian systems, use alien. See README.Debian.

And I tried a alien command on a whim and got this:

root@nuxbox:/home/james# alien -dc avast4workstation-1.0.5-1.i586.rpm
mkdir: cannot create directory `avast4workstation-1.0.5': File exists
mkdir: cannot create directory `avast4workstation-1.0.5/debian': File exists

Any ideas?
