Question Installation of 7.3 on a naked 560e

I'm attempting to install 7.3 on a salvaged IBM 560e ThinkPad. The CD-ROM is a PCMCIA-connected Panasonic KXL-783a. I created the PCMCIA.img & PCMCIADD.img diskettes on my XP system, and attempt to run a normal 7.3 installation.

I boot the PCMCIA.img diskette, which then asks for the device driver diskette. I insert the PCMCIADD.img diskette and get the message that it is loading the device driver.

The language and keyboard selection menus then pop up, followed by the selection menu for the install media. The ONLY selection that appears is "hard drive", and it wants a Linux-file system directory name supplied. This is bogus - I want to continue the installation from the CD-ROM, but it doesn't give it to me as a choice.

I created at least two of the above diskettes in case there were errors, but they seem to read ok. The CD-ROM works just fine under MS-DOS and W95 (from diskette - this laptop has been scraped with fdisk).

I am an utterly green Newbie. What am I doing wrong?

Try giving it the device name, I am a green newbie to when it comes to PCMCIA but try using /dev/cdrom or /dev/hdb

Hopefully tha might help. And 7.3? Redhat?

Cool
