installation guide
Hi folks, i am new to linux just downloaded a copy of Xandros desktop would love to get rid of Windows once for all but dont know how to start instaling linux can anyone point me in the right direction any instalation guides avaliable, what fat system does linux use do you need to format the hard drive prior to instalation and so on.?

You might be better off posting this in the "distributions" part of the forum. Otherwise, you are likely to get people like me saying...."well, in Fedora you do....". If you know what I mean.
Linux will take some time to learn. Don't get rid of Windows until you are happy with your Linux system.

hmm... well, i'd recommend you not jump ship just yet -- given your question of "what fat system does linux use" i'd say you want to consider dual-booting at least for a little while. because i'm gonna bet you run into a fair deal of frustration trying to run linux.
so moving on... i've never run xandros, so i can't exactly tell you where to start, but i'd guess right here would be good

It Works!
I installed Xandros last night followed the advices now i have a dual boot system, amazyngly easy to install pretty much all defaluts it detected all hardware, installed networking, internet working a very nice very stable system .
