I have a Linpus Linux 8.2 cd,I tried installing in both gui and text modes. I got some errors involving video adapter so the "startx" command couldn't run. My PC is a p3 with on-board graphics adapter. Since I'm totally new to linux please help me with installation tutorial. Thanks.

Are there any error message displayed while running "startx"? Or check "/var/log/syslog" for detail error information. Then post these errors here to help others to know the error details.
Is it the installer that fails, or the installed OS? It is probable that your video adapter has a VESA video mode which will work, although possibly at suboptimal speeds or other performance parameters. If you do have an installed OS, and you have tried to start X, then there should be a record of this in /var/log/Xorg.0.log. There should be useful information there, especially like what video adapter it has found (perhaps none), and some error message(s) related to the problem.
