I tried to install a copy of SuSe 7.2 on an older computer that was given to me. It is a Compaq with a pentium I with 32 mb ram.
I get the message that the computer doesn't fulfill the requirements for graphical installation. OK. I start install. Choose default without office. It installs all software. Reboots.

I get a screen that says: Booting Init:version 2.78

Then all I get is a blinking cursur in the upper left hand corner.

If I remeber correctly, from when I installed on my main computer, there was a part of the install that deals with hardware. I suspect that the install isn't finishing.

Graphical Install refers to X-windows. The setup may not be recognizing all of your memory. Check if 32 MB meets the mimimum requirements. You may need to add a MEM=32M option when you install.

How do I go about changing that option? Will X run with that little RAM? I checked around on xfree86.org and couldn't find the requirements. I would think that the install prog would tell you if the system didn't have enough RAM to install X when you selected to install.

Is there a better way to go about installation?
