I have download Centos 6.5 and 6.5 and then install it on Virtualbox , but it is wonder that it do not prompt to ask to select what package need to be install during the installation process .
I checked that only 700M HD space is used to insall , therefore , it should be only minimal installation .
what I have download is CentOS-6.5-i386-bin-DVD1 and CentOS-6.6-i386-bin-DVD1 , the file size is 3.8G .
would advise how can I select package to install or run full install ?
#2 is you have good network, the network install is a nice option and a much faster download.
#3 if you select the defaults, it never prompts you to select packages. On the page where you set the nature of the install there is a link to customize the package selection and review the detail. I have not installed from DVD recently and do not remember the link detail, but I do remember installing both with and without using that: if you do not select it you must customize your install using yum AFTER the install completes. (something I always do anyway)

No 'wonder' about it at all...you selected the defaults, so it won't prompt you.

Right...because you downloaded the DVD image, rather than the network install image. If you want the network installation image, then go download it.

...you should have SOME ideas by now. Again, you boot from the installation media, and READ the screens, rather than selecting defaults. wpeckham was very correct about installing CentOS 7. And the difference between the network install and a DVD install, is that the network install downloads all the packages over the Internet, while the DVD has them locally, and will download updates after installation. This is a MUCH better idea if you have a DVD drive...the install goes faster, and you can have an easier time getting your network configured and set up after things are running.
